Getting Started

At first glance Warface can seem a bit startling, but I am here to help walk you through getting started. The game may seem a little hard at first, but with practice you'll be shooting, reviving, sniping, and disarming bombs in no time!

Warface is a free to play FPS (first person shooter) limited to Xbox 360 Gold Members.

Upon starting the game you are instructed to create a character. The faces are all preset, however they do have a wide variety of races and facial features to rely on. After character creation there follows a brief training exercise in which you can become familiar with several aspects of the game; including weapons training, basic movement, precision aiming, weapon attachment functionality, and class abilities.

Now it's time to get your feet wet soldier! You have two options you can choose from. The first is the Co-op mode in which you and up to four friends can storm through different missions and objectives to earm Warface dollars which in turn can be used to maintain your weapons and equipment or buy new items from the "Vendor." In this mode you fight against NPCs (or non-playable characters) to achieve your objective. This mode is great for practice and even gives you reward points for special items that can only be unlocked from playing Co-op.
The second way you can play and most popular of course is the Versus menu. In versus you can choose between different rooms that cater to your experience level and play with others matching your own level. The great thing about this is that there are rank cut-offs so to speak which provide a comfortable gaming atmosphere. From here you can choose to join a game or create a room. There are several playlists you can play, including Team Deathmatch, Plant the bomb, and free for all. Each playlist comes with it's own set of maps for you to play on, however the maps cannot be integrated with different game types.

The gameplay can take a little while to get used to. It brings to mind a Call of Duty and Battlefield type controller scheme, with sliding and precision aim. Practice practice practice!

There a four different classes available, two of which become usable after a half hour and an hour of gameplay time. The sniper and Riflemen classes are available from the gate and are pretty self explanatory. After a half hour you unlock the Medic class which comes equipped with a shotgun and a set of defibrillator paddles which can be used for reviving teammates and even for killing other players! The Medic also gets a health pack that allows healing to yourself or an injured teammate.  The engineer class which becomes available after an hour of gameplay is equipped with an SMG (sub-machine gun), and an armor repair pack which can be used on yourself or a teammate. The engineer also has the quickest disarm times for bombs, and quickest install times for explosive charges. This proves very useful in Co-op mode.

There are several other elements included in the game. There is an open room where you can test out your classes and new weapons, but is there really any better place to test them then on the battlefield? There is also the store menu where you can buy items with "Warface cash" after you unlock them from the vendor. You can also restock on grenades, buy new weapons or armor, and purchase the random boxes, which include experience and supplies along with the chance to get rare weapons and equipment. Some items can only be unlocked through the random boxes, so it's a good idea to purchase them every now and again. The vendor is also just as important as the store. You must select which item you choose to work towards unlocking. There are three selections: weapons, armor, and equipment for your weapons. This is important because unlocking items in the vendor list is the only way that you can purchase them. The more you play, the more you will unlock! The game comes equipped with a full Clan function as well, including clan battles and clan rosters. It is free to make a clan and every clan is rated on a ranking system. Each person in the clan contributes clan points which they earn from playing Warface. Anyone can see the clan roster and the leader can maintain, delete, or promote different gamers in the clan. The dedicated Clan battle areas are also a very unique way to establish dominance among other clans and ensure that there are no unwanted players joining the match.

Now that you know the basics of Warface and getting started; get out there and  shoot, climb, and blast your way to the top! Good luck everyone and thank you for reading!
